Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BIMA — Book Ideas, Management & Assistance, including the website at bima.my and the BIMA web application (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated from Malaysia (“BIMA”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.

1. Your account

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your password secure, and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@bima.my if you suspect unauthorised access.

2. Your content belongs to you

You own everything you write and upload — manuscripts, notes, story bibles, outlines, images and other files (“Your Content”). We do not claim any ownership of Your Content.

You grant BIMA a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service for you — for example, to save your chapters, generate exports, deliver files to people you share them with, and run assistant requests you initiate. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service, except for copies retained in backups for a limited period or where the law requires us to keep them.

We do not use Your Content to train artificial-intelligence models, and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to upload it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

3. The writing assistant

Some features use artificial intelligence provided by a third party (currently Anthropic's Claude). The assistant only runs when you ask it to. When it does, the relevant parts of your book are sent to the provider to generate a response. Assistant output may be inaccurate, incomplete or similar to other text; you are responsible for reviewing anything you choose to keep. As between you and BIMA, you own the output you insert into your work, subject to any rights of third parties.

Assistant usage is measured in credits. Each plan includes a monthly allowance, which resets monthly and does not roll over.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law, or infringe the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of others;
• upload malware, or attempt to probe, scan, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users' data;
• use the Service to create or distribute content that sexually exploits minors, promotes violence against people, or harasses individuals;
• resell, scrape or reverse-engineer the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
• circumvent plan limits, rate limits or security measures, or share accounts in a way that avoids paying for seats.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these rules, and will tell you why where we reasonably can.

5. Collaboration and sharing

When you invite collaborators, add members to a team, or create a beta-reader link, the people you share with can access Your Content according to the role or link settings you choose. Team owners and administrators control access to books that belong to a team. You can revoke access at any time.

6. Plans, payment and cancellation

• The Free plan is provided at no charge with the limits shown on our pricing page.
• Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, in US dollars through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices exclude applicable taxes.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; paid features remain available until the end of the current billing period.
• If a payment fails, we may downgrade the account to the Free plan after reasonable notice. Your Content is not deleted because of a downgrade.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and your data safe, including regular backups and monitoring, but the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add, change or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces a paid feature, we will give notice. We recommend exporting important manuscripts regularly.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your settings or by contacting us. Deleting your account deletes Your Content from the live Service; backup copies are removed on our normal backup rotation. We may suspend or terminate accounts that seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, BIMA is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 (Malaysia) where it applies.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, without affecting any mandatory rights you have as a consumer where you live.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
